This morning

This morning I paused to watch a goose and her babies ross the road

Enjoyed a caramel latte from a local coffee shop

Exchanged morning waves with a pedestrian

And said goodbye to my oldest going to camp.

I saved morning cuddles with my baby

Kissed my best friend

Shared good mornings

And listened to David Gray’s “This Year’s Love” on the radio.

As the sun warmed the morning July sky

I hugged my five-year-old

Pressed into the fleeting nature of time

And how love transcends emotion.

Oh, how sweet this life is

How sweet this time

How sweet this morning

And how sweet this year’s love.
